Andy Rose

Introduction- Classical recordings for Television / DVD and now Cinema

Andy has been working exclusively on "location music recording" for television / DVD since 1977 ( Previously trained at Nova Studios & Eden Studios )

From 1977 to 1984 he worked as an engineer with "Mobile One" recording truck and from 1985 to 1993 he was the owner of “Fleetwood Mobiles” – He has been working as a freelance engineer from 1993 to the present day.

He has worked alongside the likes of Barry Ainsworth, Ray Prickett, Roy Emerson and Graham Haynes who were all great classical recording engineers.

He has also worked with the likes of Zubin Mehta, Sir Georg Solti, Valery Gergiev, Simon Rattle, Placido Domingo, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, and many others in more than 100 operas Andy has recorded and mixed for, originally VHS ! and then DVD and live broadcasts.

He recorded and mixed more than thirty Operas and some ballets in the former Soviet Union during the mid eighties to mid nineties.

He has also worked with all the great television opera directors – Derek Bailey, Brian Large, Humphrey Burton & Robin Lough.He also recorded, post produced and mixed all the live Glyndebourne operas for the “4 Goes to Glyndebourne” series from the new house from 1996, a total of fifteen operas. (Andy also worked on seven operas in the old house). Since then he has recorded a further seven making a total of twenty-nine – more than anybody else in the history of Glyndebourne.

He has also recorded operas in Moscow, St Petersburg, Vienna, Zurich, Frankfurt, Madrid, Paris, Barcelona, Cape Town, London, Milan and Los Angeles

  • Received a BAFTA for “Best Sound Factual” – “Party at the Palace” 2002
  • Received a BAFTA for “Best Sound Factual” – “The Genius of Mozart” 2005
  • Nominated for “Best Sound Factual” –“ The Genius of Beethoven” 2006
